Champions League Last-16 Draw Redone After Controversy

Champions League Last-16 Draw Redone After Controversy
There was some Champions League drama today in regards to the round of 16 draw. Apparently, UEFA had to redraw the round entirely because Manchester United was left out of a part of it.
What happened was Man U was placed against Villarreal, which was a mistake because they played them in Group F. That’s only the beginning though as images showed that one of United’s balls were left out that could have been drawn to play Atletico Madrid.
As a result, the rest of the lottery was messed up so UEFA had to redraw this morning to fix the issue. Here’s what the new draw results turned out to be:
- Red Bull Salzburg vs. Bayern Munich
- Sporting CP vs. Manchester City
- SL Benfica vs. AFC Ajax
- Chelsea vs. Lille OSC
- Atletico Madrid vs. Manchester United
- Villarreal CF vs. Juventus
- Inter Milan vs. Liverpool
- Paris Saint-Germain vs. Real Madrid
After all that, Man United got paired up with Atletico Madrid in their matchup. The first legs are scheduled for February 15, 16, 22, 23 with the second going on March 8, 9, 15, 16. Now that the issue was straightened out by UEFA, the focus can go back to declaring a winner of the Champions League.
With a few months to go before we get to that point, here’s a look at the current odds for who can take home the Champions League Trophy.
