Tottenham vs Man City EPL Odds: The Harry Kane Clash

You don’t usually get clashes as big as this one on the opening weekend of the Premier League season, but Tottenham’s clash with Man City is not only a game between two of the league’s best sides, it’s also got a very interesting narrative running through it; the Harry Kane situation.

We all know that Harry Kane wants to leave Tottenham and join Man City and Man City want to sign Harry Kane, however, Tottenham do not want to sell and it now seems unlikely the biggest transfer in Premier League football is going to happen. SO does that mean Harry Kane will start on Sunday? Unlikely, Kane is still not back at 100% fitness after his late return from vacation, so doesn’t appear to be a contender to start the game.

That will be music to the ears of Man City fans who know just how good their potential future striker is.  This team news is exactly why Man City are so strong in the betting when they face Tottenham on Sunday. City come in to the game off the back of a lacklustre performance in the Community Shield but that hasn’t stopped sportsbooks making them -154 favorites to beat Tottenham. Tottenham have odds of +450.

Tottenham vs Man City EPL Odds & Betting Data: Man City Heavily Wagered

Tottenham have an incredible record when playing the champions Man City at their new stadium. In 3 previous games against Pep Guardiola’s men, they’ve never conceded a goal to the free-scoring Man City team. Despite the questions over City’s form and their great record at home to Man City, there’s still little support for Spurs from bettors this Sunday. So far this week, 66.67% of total wagers on OddsChecker have been on Man City, with just 23.33% on Tottenham.

It seems that bettors and pundits are not holding much faith in Harry Kane-less Tottenham or their new manager; Nuno Espirito Santos. Santos had done a great job with Wolves over the past few seasons and steps up into the role at Spurs with the Harry Kane situation to sort out. One major positive is that Tottenham still have Son Heung-Min to rely on. Son has been in tremendous form so far in pre-season and also has scored many times past Man City in recent fixtures.
