Manchester City looks to begin their road to back-to-back Premier League titles off on the right foot when they take on new-look West Ham.
Manchester City certainly didn't remain complacent following their 2021-22 Premier League Championship campaign as the club added now-former Borussia Dortmund star Striker, Erling Haaland when the club triggered the Norwegian international's $62 million release clause. City didn't stop there as they bolstered their midfield when they added Leeds United and England starting midfielder Kalvin Phillips to an already deep midfield that boasts the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva, and Rodri.
Across the pitch from City is a new-look West Ham squad. The Hammers added Italian international, Gianluca Scamacca from Serie A side Sassuolo for $39 million. West Ham also added defender Nayef Aguerd from Ligue One club, Stade Rennais for a reported $38 million fee. However, Aguerd injured his ankle during The Hammers' pre-season tour and will be unavailable for selection in his new club's tie against City.
