World Cup Group A

In a shock twist, bettors believe that it’ll be Qatar and Senegal who qualify from Group A. That means that the overwhelming favorite to win the group, the Netherlands would be eliminated in the group stage.

Qatar leads the way with 28% of bets on them to qualify despite only having +350 odds, the worst in the group. Senegal has seen 26% of bets and has EVEN odds or a 50% chance to qualify. The Netherlands is given -800 odds or an implied 88.9% chance to qualify, but only 25.6% of bets have been placed on them. Ecuador is pulling up the rear with 20.4% of bets placed on them, and they’re given +110 odds to qualify, just behind Senegal.

World Cup Group B

For a second straight group, bettors are selecting the biggest underdog to qualify. In Group B that means Iran. However, this time bettors are also taking the favorite along with them, as England is also expected to qualify.

Iran has seen a whopping 37% of bets placed on them to qualify from Group B despite +333 odds, the worst in the group. England is second with 30.3% of bets placed on them, though sportsbooks see them as a virtual lock at -800. The US leads a clear second tier with just 19.2% of bets placed on them. Wales is last in betting with just 13.5% of bets placed on them to qualify.

World Cup Group C

Unlike the last two groups, bettors and sportsbooks agree on the top two in Group C. Argentina is the clear favorite with both to qualify. Bettors are choosing Mexico to be the second team to qualify here but by a very slim margin over Poland.

Argentina has seen 44.6% of bets placed on them to qualify, nearly double the next team on the market. Sportsbooks see it the same way, as Argentina is given -900 odds, or an implied 90.9% chance to qualify. Mexico is second with 23.8% of bets placed on them to qualify, just narrowly edging out Poland’s 21.7% of bets. Sportsbooks view Mexico and Poland as too close to call as both are given EVEN odds to qualify. Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia has seen 9.9% of bets to qualify and their +700 odds to qualify are among the worst in the World Cup.

World Cup Group D

In a group that features two of the best teams in the world and two of the worst in the World Cup, bettors and sportsbooks agree on who’ll qualify. That said, they do have a difference in who will top the group.

Denmark tops the betting by a significant margin with 62.2% of bets on them to qualify. Sportsbooks agree that’s likely to happen at -275, but they believe France is better. The reigning champions are given -900 odds to qualify, but only 24.4% of bets have been placed on them to actually do so. Still, that’s more than double what third place Tunisia +425 to qualify, has gotten at 10.1%. Few have faith in the Socceroos, as Australia has seen just 3.4% of bets.

World Cup Group E

Group E offers yet another shocker. Bettors believe that the favorite to win the group, Spain, will be left at home after a shocking group stage. In their place, bettors believe that Germany and Japan will get through.

Germany is the clear favorite for bettors, as 44.4% of bets have been placed on it. Sportsbooks agree that it’s likely Germany gets through, as they’re given -600 odds. Japan is second with 26.6% of bets, narrowly edging out Spain’s 24.4% of bets. The books don’t see these teams as close, as Japan is given +333 odds to qualify, while Spain is the favorite at -750. There’s little belief in Costa Rica, as +1400 odds have been given to them and only 4.4% of bets.

World Cup Group F

Group F provides yet another surprise. For the third time, bettors don’t believe the favorite to win the group will actually get out of the group. This time it’s Belgium who’s expected to disappoint, with Croatia and Morocco moving on.

Croatia stands at the top with 33.6% of bets on them to advance, and -163 odds to do so. However, It’s Morocco, not the favorite Belgium who’s expected to take the second spot. Morocco has seen 26.7% of bets to qualify, while Belgium has only seen 20.7%. Still, it should be said that Belgium’s -350 odds are the worst for any perceived group winner to this point, so for them to not advance wouldn’t be the biggest surprise. Canada shouldn’t be slept on either, they’re right behind Belgium with 19% of bets placed on them, though their +320 odds are the worst in the group.

World Cup Group G

Group G provides a small upset. Brazil is expected to top the group by a wide margin. However, it’s Serbia and not Switzerland who’s expected to take the second spot in one of the smallest upsets bettors have on the cards.

Brazil is the massive favorite to win the group with -900 odds to qualify, and they’ve seen 43% of bets. Serbia and Switzerland are tight on the odds market with Switzerland the minor favorite at +110 compared to Serbia’s +125. However, it’s Serbia with 29.1% of bets who’re expected to move on and not Switzerland, with 22.1% of bets. Cameroon is a distant fourth both in terms of odds at +400, and betting with only 5.8% of bets.

World Cup Group H

Bettors essentially expect Group H to go as expected. The top two on the odds market are also the top two on the betting market, though bettors do have one change.

Uruguay is expected to top the group, as they’ve seen 44% of bets to qualify. Meanwhile, Portugal has seen just 26% of bets to qualify. Sportsbooks have Portugal, -450, ahead of Uruguay, -220. Third for bettors is South Korea who just misses out with 22% of bets to advance despite their +275 odds. Ghana is a distant fourth in betting with only 8%, though the books see them as close to South Korea with +300 odds.
