England vs. Senegal World Cup Odds
England World Cup Odds
The sportsbooks have England as the fifth most likely team to win it all — their current World Cup odds are +850 at FanDuel. This seems about right, given that a likely quarterfinal against France awaits them. It's a tough path, but if England can get past France, they have the talent to win the tournament.
Senegal World Cup Odds
Senegal sits at the other end of the spectrum — they have the fourth-longest odds to win the World Cup at +12000. This is not worth a bet, given the fact that Senegal is simply outclassed by the vast majority of teams remaining.
England vs. Senegal Odds and Betting Data
England currently stands as the heavy favorite for this matchup, which should come as a surprise to no one. They are -190 to win the game outright (i.e. in 90 minutes plus stoppage time), while Senegal is +650 to emerge as victors. FanDuel places the odds of a "draw" (meaning the game would go to extra time, given that this is a knockout match) at +280.
In other words, this means that the market views England as more likely than not to win this game in the first 90 minutes. There is an outside chance that the game goes to extra time; it is exceedingly unlikely that Senegal will win outright.
The majority of the betting public has been willing to lay the heavy price with England. At the time of this writing, 79% of the bets have come in on England to secure the victory without needing extra time. 65% of the handle is on this side — Senegal has little support from the betting market.

England vs. Senegal Prediction
While I do think that England deserves to be heavily favored in this spot, I don't like laying -190 for them to win in 90 minutes. They opened the tournament with a convincing win over Iran but failed to generate any sustained pressure against the United States. They then ended their group stage with a solid win against Wales, buoyed by a stellar performance from Marcus Rashford. That dominance may have had more to do with Wales' disappointing effort than England's strong play, although both played a role.
Manager Gareth Southgate's tendency to emphasize ball control, slow build-up play and minimal creativity on the offensive side can lend itself to issues in games against competent opposition. Sunday's matchup against Senegal could be one where England could have a tougher time than they anticipate. Southgate favors Mason Mount over Phil Foden, an erroneous choice that kneecapped England against the United States and will probably do so again against Senegal. England may need a set-piece goal to break through against Senegal, or scoring could be difficult to come by.
Senegal hung around with the Netherlands until Cody Gakpo finally broke through in the 84th minute, and they then rattled off two quality wins against Qatar and Ecuador. While Senegal likely lacks the requisite talent to win this game altogether — England's team is among the most talented in the tournament — I think there is a good chance they drag this game into extra time.
