Kansas Sports Betting Updates

In 2018, Kansas looked like it was in a prime position to be one of the first legal sports betting states in the United States, with multiple hearings being held and legislation taking shape. Unfortunately for Kansas sports bettors, it's 2022 and there is still no legal online sports betting in the great state of Kansas. However, the time of waiting is almost over, and Kansas has made great strides to legalize sports betting in 2022.

Can I bet on sports online in Kansas?

The original timeline set down by legislators anticipated the launch of Kansas sports betting, sometime in early 2023. However, in a drastic turn of events, many are now speculating that Kansas will be ready to launch legal sports betting in time for the 2022-23 NFL Season.

The launch of Kansas sports betting in time for the NFL season would be a massive win for both Kansas sports bettors, and for the sportsbooks going live. The NFL season is unsurprisingly one of the most bet-on sports on the calendar, making it the perfect time for a launch.

There is still some work to do to achieve this launch date, but if the Kansas Gaming Commission and the Kansas Lottery can line up legislation post-haste it's a possibility.

What Sportsbooks will go live in Kansas Sports Betting?

Each retail casino can be affiliated with three online sportsbook operators. There are already strong connections between some of the retail outlets and online operators. Below is a list of likely sportsbook operators who could launch in Kansas:

  • Barstool Sportsbook:

Barstool is one of the fastest-growing sportsbooks in the United States, amassing a huge following. Barstool is a part of Penn National Gaming, which own the Hollywood Casino in Kansas. It'd be a real surprise if Barstool sportsbook was not on the list of operators in Kansas.

  • BetMGM Sportsbook:

Although BetMGM doesn't have a direct tie to a retail premise like Barstool above, the MGM brand is one of the most widespread brands in the United States and has operations in almost every legal sports betting state.

  • Caesars Sportsbook:

Another widespread sportsbook is Caesars Sportsbook, which will almost definitely be launching in the Kansas sports betting market.

  • DraftKings Sportsbook:

DraftKings has easy access to the Kansas sports betting market, thanks to their booming DFS business within the state.

  • FanDuel Sportsbook:

Outside of their connection with Boyd Gaming, that owns the Kansas Star Casino, FanDuel is also a huge operator, making them a prime target for any retail partnership.
