The application deadline for Ohio sports betting licenses passed last week, and unsurprisingly there was a mountain of applications submitted in the closing minutes.As expected, the Friday deadline to submit applications for Ohio sports betting licenses brought forth a deluge of paperwork from parties seeking to host or run an online or retail sportsbook in the Buckeye State.

The Casino Control Commission of Ohio put out the updated applicant list early Saturday morning revealing a list of operators and partners looking to set up sports betting in the Buckeye State.
The Ohio sports betting market will be the fourth larger sports betting market in the United States once the market launches, making it a prime target for sports book operators.
Although the deadline for applications has now passed, the OCCC will still be accepting applications moving forward, however, they are no longer guaranteeing approval in time for the New Years' Day Launch.

The Ohio sports betting legislation allows for 25 online operators and 40 retail sportsbooks.
