Game of Thrones Season 8 Preview - Who Will Rule Westeros?

The countdown is well and truly on after a spine-tingling trailer for Game of Thrones' (GOT) final ever season was released. Six movie-length episodes are set to hit our screens on April 14th and will pick up exactly where we left off at the end of season 7; off with the dead having navigated the wall and on their way to Winterfell. Not only do we get to witness the battle between the living and the dead, we finally get to see who will rule Westeros once and for all, making the iron throne their own.
Sportsbooks in New Jersey are not currently allowed to offer odds on the market, so we've used those from the UK.
Bran Stark (Three-eyed raven) @ -125
What a rise it’s been for the second youngest member of the Stark clan. In the very first episode of Game of Thrones, Bran was pushed out of a window by Jamie Lannister from a presumably fatal height, subsequently becoming paralysed from the waist down. He now finds himself as the three-eyed raven and favorite to be King of Westeros as we head into the eighth and final season. Bran is easily become one of the creepiest and most intriguing characters on the show after inheriting the powers of the three-eyed raven and has his detractors for not doing more with those powers but perhaps it’s been a plan all along to take down the Night King or perhaps the eerile similarities between the pair has more to play out...
Sansa Stark @ +500
The softly spoken and mild-mannered Lady of Winterfell has shot into contention of fulfilling her childhood dream of one day being Queen after the hell she endured in King’s Landing. While no Stark has ever ruled Westeros, the Starks have a history of protecting the realm and have ruled the biggest kingdom in terms of size for thousands of years. Her demeanour and attitude has changed dramatically during these ordeals and is now a wise, battle-hardened leader and that’s why she’s our pick to finally rule Westeros.
Jon Snow @ +550
The bastard son who became the Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch and King of the North. Jon Snow has been a fan favorite and an integral part of Game of Thrones right from the beginning and while many would love to see him ruling Westeros, you need to question his desire with his very clear focus on surviving and ending the reign of the Night King and the Army of the Dead. Let’s not forget Jon Snow is in fact a trueborn Targaryen named Aegon and legitimate heir to the Iron Throne. However, as we witnessed in Season 7, Jon has pledged himself and the north to Daenerys as the Queen. Will this change after they discover their blood relation?
Any child of Jon Snow @ +900
We’ve seen them Jon and Daenerys consummate their love, but will that result in a child? Any offspring of Jon Snow is a popular bet to rule Westeros and after all, they would be their heir to the throne is Jon were to pass away. If a child of Jon Snow were to pop up in Season 8, surely the breaker of chains would have to be the mother. It would certainly take a speculative outlook but the odds suggest this has a real possibility of happening.
Tyrion Lannister @ +1000
Tyrion Lannister has overcome just about everything to find himself as the current Hand of the Queen and trusted advisor to the power couple of Westeros. Her sister and current occupier off the Iron Throne wants him dead, but it’s hard to see one of the favorite characters of the show being killed off in the final ever season. The king of one-liners should no doubt survive the carnage that is to ensue in Season 8, but it’s unlikely to see him jump ahead of the others and be the ruler of Westeros and the Seven Kingdoms.
Daenerys Targaryen @ +1100
At the end of the Season 6, it looked without doubt Daenerys Targaryen would rule Westeros, it was only a matter of time. With three dragons and armies from every corner, it certainly had her pictured as an unstoppable force. This was all going to plan until Jon Snow showed up and convinced her to shift her attention to the Army of the Dead. The dragon count has now been cut to two after Viserion was killed by the Night King’s ice spear as they travelled north to save Jon and his crew from the Wights. With Jon at her side and appearingly having the self-declared Queen of Westeros, Cersei as an ally, Daenerys agrees the immediate threat is the Army of the Dead, meaning her attention for the first time is away from occupying the Iron Throne. Will that count against her?
