Nomadland has had a phenomenal year. The indie film with a budget of just $4 million has become one of the most critically acclaimed of the year. It also pulled in $1 million at the box office despite the global pandemic, second-best of all the Best Drama nominees at the Golden Globes. Now, they’re the Golden Globe’s Best Drama.

That momentum has led many bettors to believe that Nomadland is bound to win Best Picture at the Oscars. In fact, 90% of total bets on Best Picture have been placed on Nomadland. Nomadland is currently the favorite and available at odds of -165.

The movie has won award after award, but it has a curse to deal with now. Since 2010, only three Golden Globe-winning Best Dramas have won the Oscar’s best picture; Argo, 12 Years a Slave, and Moonlight. In 2020, Parasite, the Oscar-winning Best Picture, wasn’t even nominated for Best Drama at the Golden Globes.

Nomadland could be set for extra success with leading actress Frances McDormand +400 to win the Oscar's Best Actress award too.
