Oscars Odds: Encanto Given 70.8% Chance to Win Best Animated Film

Will this year’s Oscar for best animated film go to Disney? The latest Oscars odds say yes, as the top two films come from the media giant. However, Oscars odds have pegged Encanto as the overwhelming favorite.

Encanto's Oscars odds for Best Animated Film sit at -243, or an implied 70.8% chance to win the Academy Award. Its biggest rival is Luca, which is given +400 Oscars odds, or an implied 20% chance to take the award home. Disney’s third nominated film is Raya and the Last Dragon, which is given +2200 odds, or an implied 4.3% chance to win.

Of course, Disney didn’t get all the nominations. Sony’s The Mitchells vs. the Machines is given +740 odds, or an implied 11.9% chance. Lastly, Danish animated film Flee is given +900 odds, or an implied 10% chance, according to the latest Oscars odds.

This award is Disney’s to lose every single year. Since its creation in 2001, a Disney or Pixar film has won the award in 14 of the 20 years. In fact, a Disney film has won the award in 8 of the last 9 years. With only Into the Spider-Verse breaking Disney’s hold on the award. So, it should come as no surprise that Disney is once again expected to reign supreme and win the award for a 9th time in 10 years.
