2022 Academy Awards Odds & Betting: Latest From The Betting Markets
The 2022 Academy Awards has the potential to be one of the best of the last few years. The Oscars will have a host for the first time since 2019 and also this is now the fourth year in a row where you could legally gamble on the event.
With films like The Power of the Dog getting nominated 12 times and other films like CODA, King Richard, and West Side Story getting nominations it's hard not to get excited for the 2022 Academy Awards.
What I wanted to do today was look at the latest trends from some of the most popular betting markets for the Oscars.

Best Picture
70% of bets this past week have been on CODA which is directed by, Sian Heder is the story of Ruby Rossi who is the only hearing member of her family. It's a feel-good coming of age movie that has its dramatic moments and the more comedic moments as well. Troy Kotsur as Frank Rossi gives a phenomenal performance.
Coda Odds: +105 (Bet $100 to win $105)
Best Actor
Will Smith was downright amazing in King Richard. He's a massive favorite but the public also loves him as 57% of bets in the past week have come in on him. Smith has somehow never won an Oscar in his career. I think this is the year that he ends that streak.

Best Actress
The favorite in this category is Jessica Chastain at -140. Ironically, the leader in bets over the past week was Penelope Cruz at 45%. She is the biggest long shot, so perhaps this is people just looking to cash in. I will say this though, as the lead in Parallel Mothers she was very good. This is the third time she's been nominated for this award.

Best Director
This one is a lock. Jane Campion is going to win the award for best actor. Just 61% of bets have come in on Campion this week but it's because of how poor her odds are for value. You would have to bet $2400 to win $100. It doesn't make sense to put a play on her unless you are betting big money.
