On Sunday, the 94th annual Academy Awards will be taking place at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California. All the stars are expected to be out in celebration of the year in film. This year feels a little bit different.
Unlike last year it will be held in person and once again you have hosts, for the first time since 2019. Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer will host the event. Let's get you up to date with the latest 2022 Oscars Vegas Odds:

2022 Oscars Vegas Odds
Best Picture
Film | Odds |
---|---|
The Power of the Dog | -135 |
CODA | +100 |
Belfast | +1600 |
King Richard | +2300 |
Dune | +2800 |
West Side Story | +3500 |
Licorice Pizza | +5500 |
Don't Look Up | +6500 |
The Power of the Dog is still the favorite as it's nominated for 12 different awards this year. Don't sleep on CODA though. It's up to even money at +100 and it really feels like a coin flip between the two films. Unfortunately, as good as the other films are on this list, I don't think any will be able to upset either The Power of the Dog or CODA.

Best Actor
Name | Odds |
---|---|
Will Smith | -600 |
Benedict Cumberbatch | +650 |
Andrew Garfield | +1100 |
Denzel Washington | +3500 |
Javier Bardem | +4800 |
Many believe that Will Smith will win his first ever Oscar award. He was the star in King Richard, a film about the life of Serena and Venus Williams. Will Smith has played so many roles over the course of his career but I think you could make the case that this was his best performance of his career. Oddsmakers agree, giving him -600 odds to win.
Best Actress
Name | Odds |
---|---|
Jessica Chastain | -160 |
Penelope Cruz | +330 |
Nicole Kidman | +470 |
Kristen Stewart | +850 |
Olivia Colman | +1100 |
Jessica Chastain is the favorite here at -160. Her performance in The Eyes of Tammy Faye was phenomenal. We do have a little bit of a riser recently though to keep an eye on. Penelope Cruz, who started at +2000 is now up to +500. That's a massive swing on odds and absolutely something to keep an eye on.
Best Director
Odds | Director | Implied Chance |
---|---|---|
-2400 | Jane Campion | 96% |
+2300 | Kenneth Branagh | 4.2% |
+2300 | Steven Spielberg | 4.2% |
+2300 | Paul Thomas Anderson | 4.2% |
+3500 | Ryusuke Hamaguchi | 2.8% |
Jane Campion is as close to a lock as you can get for Best Director. Critics are obsessed with The Power of the Dog and apparently so are the oddsmakers here. It would be the biggest upset of the night if someone else takes home this award.
Best Supporting Actor
Name | Odds |
---|---|
Troy Kotsur | -430 |
Jodi Smit-McPhee | +380 |
Ciaran Hinds | +2900 |
J.K. Simmons | +3500 |
Jesse Plemons | +3500 |
Here, it feels like Troy Kotsur is going to run away with this one. He's at -430 with Kodi Smit-McPhee with the next best odds at +380. Kotsur's performance in CODA is one of the reasons why it's being talked about as the best picture. This one, like best supporting actress which we will look at in a second, feels like a lock too.
Best Supporting Actress
Odds | Actress | Implied Chance |
---|---|---|
-1600 | Ariana DeBose | 94.1% |
+600 | Kirsten Dunst | 14.3% |
+1800 | Aunjanue Ellis | 5.3% |
+2500 | Judi Dench | 3.8% |
+3500 | Jessie Buckley | 2.8% |
Ariana DeBose is a heavy favorite for Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story. Ironically, in 1961 Rita Morena won this award in the same role. We will see if history repeats itself again.
