Jon Moxley vs. MJF Breakdown
According to oddsmakers, MJF looks poised to become the AEW World Champion when he challenges champion, Jon Moxley for the latter's title in the main event of this weekend's Full Gear pay-per-view.
The Long Island, New York native immediately made his presence known upon his arrival in AEW in January 2019. The 26-year-old will be competing in his second world title match, both against Jon Moxley as the pair first met back in 2020 at AEW's All Out pay-per-view event. The match was one of the best title matches in all of All Elite Wrestling in 2020, which saw Moxley retain his title after planting MJF with his (Moxley's) patented Paradigm Shift finisher even though the maneuver was banned from the match per MJF's request. However, the referee was temporarily distracted which allowed Moxley to hit MJF with the banned move, leading to the 1-2-3 victory for Moxley, who extended his title reign.
Meanwhile, three-time AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley looks to defeat MJF for the second time and possibly put to bed their feud once-and-for-all.
The Cincinnati native became a three-time champion when he defeated Bryan Danielson at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, this past September in what was the Finals of the Tournament of Champions bracket, which crowned a new AEW World Champion following now-former champion, CM Punk vacating the title (and possibly leaving All Elite Wrestling altogether) following the drama, following this past September's AEW All Out pay-per-view event, in which Punk defeated the aforementioned Moxley to claim his (Punk's) second AEW World Title.
