Joe Biden: Former Vice-President Ahead of Sanders to Secure the Democratic Nomination
Joe Biden is now the most likely candidate to represent the Democrats in 2020, according to bookmaking experts.
Priced at just +250, Biden has seen his odds shorten from +600 since officially announcing his intention to challenge Donald Trump for the White House.
In relative terms, that means that books have doubled his chances of winning the Democrat ticket from 14.3% to 28.6% in the space of a week.
Punters certainly believe that the experts are onto something, with Biden accounting for 33% of total bets placed through Oddschecker’s website in the last week
Long-time favorite Bernie Sanders’ remains Biden’s nearest rival at +350, while Pete Buttigieg and Kamala Harris next at +600 each.
Hillary Clinton isn’t much fancied by the books for another crack at Trump at +6700, while Michelle Obama and Opray Winfrey are even longer shots at +10000 apiece.
Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “Once Biden made it official, we knew he’d be there or thereabouts.
However, climbing straight to favorite shows just how seriously his campaign should be taken.
With bettors lumping on Biden in a big way, the odds could slash even further on Obama’s number two becoming number one.”
