British Prime Minister Theresa May has today announced her resignation following an abject failure to negotiate a successful withdrawal from the European Union. Brexit has been the most divisive issue in British politics throughout her tenure as PM, the position she won in 2016 following David Cameron's resignation following the result of the Brexit referendum.
The question of who will replace her is the hot topic, with Boris Johnson the hot favorite. Behind him are a number of well-known Conservative Party faces, including Andrea Ledsom, whom May beat in the leadership race back in 2016.
May will officially leave her post on 7th June with this announcement having been the starting-pistol to begin the race for the top job in British politics.
