Next UK Ambassador To US Odds

View From Across The Pond: The Brits love a wager and our sister site Oddschecker UK have compiled the latest odds to be the UK's next ambassador to the US.

The UK must appoint a new ambassador the USA following the controversial resignation of Sir Kim Darroch earlier this week.

In response, UK sportsbooks have priced up his possible successors. However, there is plenty of discord in the markets.

Reports this morning suggest that Theresa May wants to fill the vacant role quickly before she leaves office, making this market something of a mystery for odds compilers.

UK sportsbook Betway make current ambassador to Germany Sir Sebastian Wood the +450 favorite for the job. Meanwhile, Ladbrokes have Cabinet Secretary Mark Sedwill at the top of their list at +300.

Early rumours suggested Nigel Farage could be in the running to take over the role. His appointment would certainly please Donald Trump, and Ladbrokes make him +1000 joint-second favourite.

However, perhaps as a result of those reports that the Prime Minister would select a replacement, Betway make him a +3300 outsider in the market.

“His love-in with Donald Trump makes this particular appearance even more of a given. However, if the rumours of Theresa May wanting to pick the next ambassador are true, he’ll be nowhere near Washington.”
