The Democratic Party is now most likely to secure North Carolina in November’s Presidential Election, according to oddsmakers.
The Republican Party had been the long-time leaders since the betting market was opened in March of this year, although it has always been a tight race.
However, this week saw the Democrat's odds shorten to the point where they were outright favorites for the first time.
At time of writing the odds on the Dems to win the Tar Heel state are -110, which implies a likelihood of 52.40%. By comparison, the odds for the GOP are +100, which is indicative of a 50.00% chance.
Oddschecker spokesperson Pete Watt: “Much like Arizona and Florida in recent months, North Carolina has changed from red to blue with oddsmakers."
"It is changes like these that have seen Joe Biden overtake Donald Trump as the betting favorite to be the next POTUS. In fact, the lead that Biden currently enjoys is the largest it has been at any point during the campaign."
