The 2020 US Presidential Election is now the event upon which the most money has been wagered in the history of betting.

How much money has been wagered on the Election?

The previous record was held by the 2016 US Election, where nearly $256M was staked on whether Donald Trump of Hillary Clinton would become the 45th President of the United States.

Earlier this week, however, the amount of money bet on the upcoming election between Donald Trump and Joe Biden surpassed the previous record and this morning saw it pass the 260 million dollar milestone.

As a result, more money has now been placed on the election than last year’s Super Bowl, Mayweather vs McGregor, the Kentucky Derby and the NBA Finals combined.

This data is taken from European sportbooks where, unlike in the US, political wagering is legal, regulated and thriving.

With less than week to go until the election and with interest only continuing to build, there will likely be several million more dollars staked between now and November 3rd.

Who will win Presidential Election 2020?

Donald Trump trails in the market, with his odds at time of writing listed at -188, or 15/8, which carries an implied chance of 34.78%. His Democrat rival Joe Biden has odds of -190, or 10/19, which puts him in the driving seat with a 65.53% chance.
