With Oz now the considerable favorite to win, oddsmakers believe that Democrats are now favored to win the election in November. On Thursday of last week, Republicans were given -117 odds, or an implied 53.9% chance to win the election. Meanwhile, Democrats were given +102 odds, or an implied 49.4% chance. With Oz now favored though, Democrats are given -117 odds to Republicans +106.

Hotly contested and tight primary races can often leave voters disillusioned if their preferred candidate loses. That creates gaps in the base of the winner making it much more difficult for them to win a general election. Oddsmakers expect that to be the case here. With Dr. Oz slated to win, there’s no guarantee he pulls the far-right voters supporting Barnette or the centrist voters backing McCormick.

Meanwhile, Fetterman is the runaway favorite to win the Democratic primary and he’s already won a statewide election in Pennsylvania before. Oddsmakers put that all together and see that even despite the current political climate, Democrats have only seen their chances improve in the crucial swing state.
