Next British Prime Minister odds have been pretty stable since Boris Johnson's announcement that he will be stepping down. However, since Ben Wallace made his announcement that he would not be running, we've seen a shift in those odds.

Next British Prime Minister Odds: Rishi Sunak's Race to Lose

Sunak had been the favorite to replace Johnson for well over a year prior to Wallace jumping him. With Wallace now out of the picture, Sunak has seen a massive jump in his odds, going from +400 to +180 to become the next Prime Minister. That’s a change from an implied 20% chance to a 35.7% chance.

Of course, Sunak isn’t the only candidate who benefited. Penny Mordaunt also saw a massive odds jump, going from +600 to +380. A change from an implied 14.3% chance to a 20.8% chance. The biggest winner though may have been Liz Truss who saw her odds jump from +900 to +520. A change from a 10% chance to a 16.1% chance.

The field is narrowing. The day Johnson announced his resignation, five candidates were given at least a 10% chance to become the next Prime Minister. Today, only Sunak, Mordaunt, and Truss have odds that good. The candidate who really fell out of the race was Sajid Javid who went from +750 odds to +3900. Meanwhile, Ben Wallace is still on the odds market at +14900. So, while he may have pulled himself out of the running, sportsbooks aren’t willing to say he’s out of it completely.
