2024 Presidential Election Odds: Ron DeSantis Moves Past Donald Trump to Become the New Favorite
When it comes to 2024 Presidential Election odds, things have been a rollercoaster of late.
Sportsbooks still believe that a red wave is about to hit America. With Republicans heavily favored for major wins at the mid-term election and in 2024. Of course, most would assume that means a resurgence for Donald Trump. However, sportsbooks have a different Republican in mind when it comes to 2024 Presidential Election odds.
2024 Presidential Election Odds
For the first time since we've been tracking 2024 Presidential Election odds, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is now the favorite to win. Sportsbooks give him +350 odds, or an implied 22.2% chance to become the next President. He’s followed by Donald Trump who’s given +360 odds, or an implied 21.7% chance. The top Democrat is President Joe Biden, who’s given +780 odds, or just an 11.4% chance to win reelection.
While 2024 Presidential odds clearly favor DeSantis, bettors don’t share the same sentiment. Over the last 7 days, an astonishing 49.9% of bets have been placed on Trump to win the 2024 election. DeSantis is second, but he’s only seen 12.3% of bets. Bettors and sportsbooks don’t even agree on the top Democratic candidate. Bettors have California Governor Gavin Newsome as the top Democrat with 7.7% of bets.

It’s interesting to see sportsbooks move to back Ron DeSantis. He’s a prime candidate for 2024 to be sure, but he’s also not guaranteed to win the reelection in Florida. If he can’t fend off either Charlie Crist or Nikki Fried in November then it’s going to be difficult to win the Republican nomination let alone the Presidential election. The polls say that’s a very real possibility, especially if Crist wins the Democratic nomination. Still, sportsbooks are giving DeSantis -1100 odds, or an implied 91.7% chance to win reelection. Are they overestimating DeSantis or are the polls underestimating him?
