Kansas Senate Odds

Sportsbooks have given Democratic candidate Mark Holland EVEN odds (+100) to in the election. That means he’s given an implied 50% chance to be the first Democrat elected to the senate from Kansas since George McGill.

Republicans are still favored to win though. Incumbent Jerry Moran is given -138 odds, or an implied 58% chance to win reelection. Doing so would keep alive the longest winning streak in a single state for either party, as Republicans have held both senate seats in Kansas since 1938.

There is no more reliably Republican state than Kansas. It’s been loyal to the Republican party for longer than any state has ever remained loyal to a single party in the history of the country. So, if they can’t retain this seat it would be a massive blow to the party. How could they compete if they lose one of the party’s strongholds? Sportsbooks aren’t ready to say a Democrat could actually win the race, but they do believe this is going to be an incredibly competitive race.
