USA vs. Mexico Prediction

Mexico vs. USA will battle things out for a much-anticipated matchup on Sunday night. Team USA has Hall of Fame talent all over the field. Leading the team is the best player in baseball in the form of Mike Trout. Team USA entered the tournament with the second-best odds to win it all, and for good reason.

If there was weakness on the team, you could criticize their pitching as it is not as deep as some other years. The USA remains confident that they have enough pitching to win this tournament with the bats that they have in their lineup.

Team Mexico brings multiple big league players into this game, most notably Tampa Bay Rays superstar Randy Arozarena and veteran outfielder Alex Verdugo. Mexico has a good lineup, but their true weakness will be their pitching staff. This is not a deep staff, and things could get ugly if their bats are sluggish this tournament.

Mexico will send big leaguer Patrick Sandoval to the bump tonight. The southpaw is currently a member of the Los Angeles Angels and has pitched to an ERA of 3.17 in his big league career. The US is expected to start Padres pitcher Nick Martinez, who will be charged with slowing down this Mexico lineup.

I am backing the USA team total of over 5.5 today. Sandoval is a big-league pitcher, but he is facing an all-star lineup that should have its way with him tonight. When you look at this lineup, there are no weaknesses, and they will keep it on you all game long. I question who Mexico will send to the mound once Sandoval is done but I don't expect it to be a guy that can limit this talented USA lineup. I expect the US to fly over this number and cash us in today!
