We have a 10-game slate to entertain us Thursday. Three afternoon games, five more in the evening slate, and then a two game West Coast slate to finish the evening off.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
Twins @ Rays
This is going to be a fascinating game, for the pitching matchup alone. Charlie Morton and Martin Perez have been fantastic this season. Combined they have a 12-1 record and neither has an ERA over three. In fact, combined they have allowed more than three earned runs in an outing just twice, one time each. This is also a pitching friendly park, which has seen an average of just under seven runs per game scored this season. Eight is a low number but the under is very much in play in this one.
1u – Under 8 Total Runs @ +104
Royals @ Rangers
The Royals and Rangers played out some extremely fun games recently in Kansas City. Now they meet in Texas for another series, which has the potential to be a lot of fun. However, this game has the potential to be pretty one sided, given the pitching matchup. Jakob Junis and his 5.58 ERA faces off with Mike Minor, who has a 2.55 ERA and has allowed just two earned runs in four starts at Globe Life Park this season. The positive thing when Minor is on the mound is that this Texas offense is more than capable of giving him a nice cushion, as they average 5.77 runs per game at home this season.
1u – TEX Rangers -1.5 @ +118
Angels @ Mariners
Another fascinating game but in a slightly different way to the Twins Rays game. This one is fascinating because it is likely to be an extremely interesting battle between bat and ball. These two pitchers are among the best on their team right now, but these two offenses have the potential to do plenty of damage. In fact, the Angels have seen the over hit in their games in their last four, while the Mariners have had it hit in their last two, and three of their last five. An interesting point to note is that the Mariners are allowing a whopping 6.52 runs per game at home this season.
1u – Over 8.5 Total Runs @ -110
Mets @ Dodgers
It had been an ugly couple of games for the Dodgers in this series, prior to their ninth innings explosion on Wednesday. However now they have all the momentum entering a matchup which could not be lopsided. Hyun-Jin Ryu has been incredible this season, allowing a total of 12 earned runs in 65 1/3 innings. Jason Vargas has been pretty good as well, allowing just one earned run in four of his last five starts. However, he struggles to go deeper than five innings, and we have just seen the Dodgers take six runs off the best part of the Mets bullpen last night.
If you are not willing to lay the extra 0.5 with the Dodgers, then you can get them -1.5 at -120.
1u – LA Dodgers -2 @ +110
