Our picks for today's MLB action
ANALYSIS

After a bumper Sunday in which runs were scored for fun, Monday sees a 12-game evening slate in which there are some interesting pitching matchups.

Here are Today’s MLB Picks:

Astros @ Reds

The first of those interesting pitching matchups is in Cincinnati, where Luis Castillo takes on Wade Miley. Castillo has been superb this year with a 2.20 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 81 2/3 innings. At home he has been particularly impressive with just a 1.87 ERA. Wade Miley is also having a good season, but he has had some issues on the road, with a 4.50 ERA. Additionally, the Astros see 60% of their road games with a line between 8-and-8.5 go under, and the Reds see their home games go under 60% of the time as well on this line.

1u – Under 8.5 Total Runs @ -111

Mets @ Braves

This is an interesting matchup between Zack Wheeler and Mike Soroka. Soroka has been particularly impressive this season, but his last two home games have seen him struggle a little more, allowing eight earned runs in 11 2/3 innings. Wheeler has been pretty solid this season, but has done nothing to standout, allowing at least three earned runs in all of his last six starts. Going for the over with these two teams may seem a bold call, but all of the last five Braves games have gone over, as have four of the last five Mets games. Additionally, the Braves allow 5.24 runs per game at home, and score 5.79, as well as seeing the over hit or push on 15-of-22 occasions when the line is around nine.

1u – Over 9 Total Runs @ +120

Indians @ Rangers

This matchup sees the return of Mike Clevinger to face the surprisingly good Lance Lynn. The Rangers offense has not looked as potent without Joey Gallo, and the under has hit 70% of the time when the Rangers play at home with a 9-or-9.5 line. As for the pitchers, well Lynn has not allowed more than three earned runs in his last seven starts, and Clevinger had not allowed an earned run to score in his two starts prior to injury. There is some concern over how deep Clevinger can pitch, but with the wind blowing in at Globe Life Park tonight, the two pitchers should be able to keep the scoring down in this one.

1u – Under 9.5 Total Runs @ -10
