Our picks for today's MLB action
ANALYSIS

A lopsided split slate greets us on Wednesday. The postponement in Chicago puts a double-header on the slate and means there is some afternoon baseball for us all to enjoy. As for the evening? Once again, some hot weather and favorable hitting conditions mean we could see plenty of runs being scored.

Here are Today’s MLB Picks:

Indians @ Royals

Tuesday saw a high scoring game in Kansas City and Wednesday has the chance to be a repeat. Once again, the weather in Kansas City is favourable to hitters, with high temperatures and a strong wind blowing out to left field. Mike Clevinger is on the mound again for the Indians, having allowed 12 earned runs in his two starts since returning from injury. Danny Duffy is on the mound for the Royals, having allowed three or more earned runs in five of his last six starts. These two offenses do not rank highly with their hitting numbers this season, but the over has now hit in the last four Royals games, and three of the last four Indians games.

1u – Over 9.5 Total Runs @ +108

Twins @ Athletics

I cannot quite believe I am saying this, but this pick is all about Mike Fiers. The veteran pitcher is having a good run of form recently, having not allowed more than three earned runs in his last 12 starts, and having earned the win in four of his last five games. The form at home this season has also been good, with a 3.08 ERA in 52 2/3 innings. Additionally, if we ignore the designated home game he started in Japan he is 5-1 with two no decisions in Oakland this season. Facing Kyle Gibson should help, as he has a 4.68 ERA outside of Minnesota this season, as well as struggling in three of his last four starts. The Athletics should be slight favorites in this one with this pitching matchup, so I like the value getting them at slightly above even money.

1u – OAK Athletics ML @ +115

Giants @ Padres

This series has been good to us so far and there is no reason not to think it might be again. As with the first two games the weather is favorable for hitters, and there are pitchers on the mound who can be got after. San Diego starter, Cal Quantrill, has been performing bullpen duties recently and could be stretched trying to give the Padres innings in this game. Shaun Anderson for the Giants is an interesting proposition, having been solid the last few times out. However, with the weather against him he is likely to give up at least the two earned runs he has allowed in all his last 10 starts. The Giants have been involved in run fests recently, with the over being 4-0-1 in their last four. The Padres have also been involved in some high scoring games with the over being 3-0-1 in their last four.

1u – Over 9 Total Runs @ +118
