MLB Picks & Parlays Tuesday 07/16
A loaded evening slate sees all 30 teams in action on Tuesday. After an interesting day Monday, let’s take a look where the value can be found on Tuesday.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
Last nights game surprised me with just how high scoring it was, and with the weather favouring hitting again I think today could be similar. The Dodgers have the advantage as they have Walker Buehler and his 3.46 ERA on the mound. Prior to his trip to Colorado Buehler had allowed just three earned runs in his previous four starts, spanning 27 innings. In contrast Vince Velasquez is struggling somewhat, with a 4.63 ERA and 11 earned runs allowed in his last 16 2/3 innings. The Dodgers hitters are on a hot streak right now, with 34 runs scored in their last three games. Look for the Dodgers to go 2-0 up in the series with a handy win today.
1u – LA Dodgers -1.5 @ -120
This is an interesting one because the Padres road record and the Marlins home record suggest this one should go over. However, I really like the two pitchers on the mound in this game. Logan Allen has struggled his last two times out, but the weather has very much been hitter friendly. He was also superb in his first two outings of the season, allowing two earned runs in 13 innings. Jordan Yamamoto has been superb since arriving in the majors, with just four earned runs allowed in 29 innings. Nether of these offenses are brilliant and I expect this to be a low scoring affair.
1u – Under 8 Total Runs @ -110
I am going to trust the numbers in this pick and go against the hitter friendly weather forecast. The Cardinals have seen the under hit 60% of the time in their home games, and Jack Flaherty has a 3.48 ERA when pitching at home. Pittsburgh have a pitcher on the mound who is making a solid start to his career, with a 2.81 ERA through three starts and 16 innings. Both offenses rank in the bottom-third of the league in home runs, and Pittsburgh are only slightly above that (18th) when it comes to runs scored. I like this game to be a tight controlled one between two interesting pitchers.
1u – Under 8.5 Total Runs @ +105
