MLB Picks & Parlays Monday 07/22
This Monday in July sees a reasonably busy slate for the first day of the week. 11 games take to the mound n what should be an action-packed evening slate.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
Now this is a weird matchup, because both pitchers have had odd seasons. Ivan Nova started very slowly but has then had his ERA yo-yo ever since. Trevor Richards started well but has then struggled at times since then. The weather is hitter friendly, but these two offenses are not that good. They both rank in the bottom-three in runs, and the bottom-six in home runs and slugging. Marlins road games with a line at 9.5 have seen the under go 9-5-2. White Sox home games are pretty even, but against the Marlins it makes sense to lean to the under.
1u – Under 9.5 Total Runs @ -105
What a matchup this is! The Giants are absolutely on fire right now, with just three losses in total in July. They are now back at .500 and riding the crest of a wave. The Cubs are also pretty hot right now, having won nine of their last 12 games, so this is a real clash to watch. My instinct is that this would be a low scoring affair. The Cubs have seen the under hit five games in a row, and the Giants have seen it hit in three of their four-game series against the Mets. Shaun Anderson has allowed just two earned runs in four of his five home starts and has gone at least five innings in all those outings. I am not sure what to make of Alec Mills quite yet but pitching in a pitcher-friendly park should give him confidence. The recent trend of both teams means I will take the under in what should be a fun game of baseball.
1u – Under 8.5 Total Runs @ +105
This is not a pretty pitching matchup at all. Marco Gonsalves has been hit hard at home this season, allowing a 5.46 ERA with an opposing batting average of .286 and a slugging percentage of .414. On the other side is Adrian Sampson, who has been hit really hard in a few starts recently. He has allowed 12 earned runs in his last 8 1/3 innings, and now he goes to face a team who rank fourth in the league in home runs. I just see this being a really entertaining end to the slate and could easily see double-digits being scored.
1u – Over 9.5 Total Runs @ -118
