MLB Picks & Parlays Wednesday 08/07
A strange slate greets us on Wednesday as the majority of games are taking place in the afternoon, including an afternoon double-header in Cleveland. 28 teams are in action with 20 taking to the field in the afternoon before a quiet evening slate containing just four games.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
This could be a high scoring game in which to kick off our Wednesday. The weather is expected to favor the hitters in a big way with the wind blowing out, and both pitchers have major question marks. Jordan Yamamoto started his career well but things have gone rapidly downhill in the last month. In his last three starts he has managed 14 innings and allowed 15 earned runs. Some of it has been bad luck but there has also been an element of teams working him out as he is getting more stuff on tape in the majors. As for Steven Matz well who really knows. His last two starts have seen him shut out the Pirates, and allow five earned runs against that same team in 3 2/3 innings. With this line being so low and Yamamoto’s struggles, Matz only needs to allow a couple of earned runs for the over to hit in this one, and therefore, that is the side I am taking.
1u – Over 8.5 Total Runs @ -116
Another game where the weather is expected to be heavily in favor of the hitters, with questionable pitching leads to our second over of the day. Max Fried has been up and down this season, as his 4.07 ERA demonstrates. He is facing a pitcher in Martin Perez whose season has taken a turn for the worse in the last couple of months. His last three starts have seen him allow 13 earned run in 15 innings, and his ERA is now up at 4.58. With 19 runs being scored last night and the weather favoring hitting it is hard to look anywhere but the over, even with the line this high.
1u – Over 10 Total Runs @ -115
It is time to switch tack a little for our final game of the day and look at a potentially low scoring affair. Jason Vargas has been solid this season, with just the odd blow up, mostly allowing either two or three earned runs and usually going at least five innings. Zac Gallen has been superb this year, allowing more than two earned runs just once, and allowing just two earned in his last 14 innings. These two offenses have been extremely hit or moss this year, so to get such nice odds for the under at 8.5 is extremely tempting with these two pitchers on the mound.
1u – Under 8.5 Total Runs @ +120
