Our picks for today's MLB action
ANALYSIS

Wednesday has the makings of a fascinating day. We have some pretty extreme weather differentials expected in the early games before things settle down later in the day.

Here are Today’s MLB Picks:

New York Yankees @ Detroit Tigers

Not only did the Tigers cover on Tuesday but they actually beat the Yankees in the first game of their series. The Tigers are somewhat hot right now having not only covered but winning three of their last five games. However, the odds are not in the favor of a repeat tonight as the Tigers have won just 27% of their home games and covered in 29.5%. In contrast the Yankees win and cover in 55% of their road games and should bounce back tonight. The pitching is fairly even in this one with both CC Sabathia and Matt Boyd being up and down this season, so I will take the better offense to cover.

1u – New York Yankees -2 @ -105

Arizona Diamondbacks @ New York Mets

This will be my third straight play on this series and after flicking from the Mets to the Diamondbacks yesterday I am going back the other way today. Steven Matz is on fire right now, having a 2.78 ERA since the All-Star break, as well as a season long 2.11 ERA at home in which he has allowed an opponent batting average of just .228. Ray comes into this game off the back of a tough first outing this month and having an ERA of 4.30 in August. The Mets are fighting for their lives right now and have taken the first two games of this series and are 40-29 at home this season, so I am backing them to make it 3-from-3 today.

1u – New York Mets ML @ -110

Washington Nationals @ Minnesota Twins

The under came through on this one easily for me yesterday and I am jumping straight back on that train. Martin Perez has been inconsistent recently, but he should be helped by an expected reasonably strong wind blowing in from left center as well as reasonably low temperatures with thunderstorms expected in the area tonight. Stephen Strasburg should not be the issue in this one. He does have the odd blow up but generally he is a solid pitcher who should benefit from the helpful conditions tonight. The only thing that might throw this off is if the pitching schedules get messed up by a weather delay. Otherwise I am taking the under and feeling pretty confident about it.

1.5u – Under 10 Total Runs @ -111
