Daily Picks 09/14: Cardinals To Fly
We’ve got a nicely spread out 16 game Saturday slate to keep us entertained before and alongside the college games later. I mean seriously, who doesn’t love fall, and all the sports that come with it?
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
Boston Red Sox @ Philadelphia Phillies
With time ticking down on the season, it’s paramount that the Phillies string some wins together, and quickly! Their chances of making the playoffs now sits at just 3.8%, and the window is rapidly closing with their patchy current form.
Aaron Nola starts for them today, but I feel like the momentum against them might be too much. Nola is 0-4 in his last four starts, and he’s up against Eduardo Rodriquez, who’s currently on a 4-1 run, allowing just 1.11 ERA.
Neither team is performing particularly well recently, but the Red Sox do have their superb road record continuing, even after the death of their playoff aspirations. They’re the play today on the moneyline.

Milwaukee Brewers @ St. Louis Cardinals
One of today’s biggest pitching mismatches is going down at Busch Stadium.
On one side the Brewers will have Jordon Lyles taking the mound, who currently has a 4.38 ERA and is showing some inconsistencies this year as a starting pitcher. For the Cardinals, they’ll have the red hot Jack Flaherty starting. The 23 year old Flaherty has the leading ERA in the MLB since the All-Star break at 0.76, and he’ll look to maintain that as he seeks to build off his last start, when he recorded eight scoreless innings and racked up 10 strikeouts.
I expect the Cardinals to continue on from their 10-0 win yesterday, with them getting the win, and covering today’s spread.
