Daily Picks 09/22: Royals Ready
Sunday brings us another loaded day of afternoon baseball, with more important playoff deciding games. One such game will be between the Cubs and Cardinals. While it wont be included below because there is no line set at the time of writing my advice is take the over. The weather is extremely hitter friendly and in similar condition 17 runs were scored last night. They will not be able to make that line high enough. Anything below 12 and I will definitely be taking the over.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
- Jorge Lopez is 2-1 with a 2.08 ERA in three September starts, all on the road.
Lopez has been really impressive recently, with three good road starts. This will be one of the tougher tests of this run of road starts. In contrast, we are a long way removed from Martin Perez surprising us all this season. The Twins pitcher was impressive through the first two months of the season. However, since June his ERA has consistently been above five in every individual month. This has the potential to be a tight game and I will take the Royals getting the 1.5 given they have covered that spread in two of the last three.
1u – Kansas City Royals +1.5 @ +106
- Garrett Richards has struggled since returning from injury at all levels of the minors and allowed three earned runs in 3 2/3 innings.
Everything in this game is on the side of the Diamondbacks. Garrett Richards is struggling for consistency following his return from injury and now goes up against Robbie Ray, who while inconsistent himself should be the better pitcher in this one. Additionally, the Diamondbacks have taken the first two games of this series and have all of the motivation on their side. The Diamondbacks remain five games off a Wild card spot and need to keep winning to have any chance of going to the playoffs.
1u – Arizona Diamondbacks -1 @ +125
- The weather is expected to be blowing hard out to center field which will suit hitting.
This could be a very interesting Sunday evening baseball game as the Phillies and Indians do battle in what are expected to be extremely hitter friendly conditions. Both pitchers Adam Plutko and Vince Velasquez are susceptible to giving up runs as they both have ERAs over four. This should be a high scoring and entertaining end to the week.
1u – Over 10.5 Total Runs @ -104
