The final day of the 2019 season is upon us, and with just one playoff question mark left to answer it should be a relatively quiet one. However, there are still some interesting spots to find value today as many teams take to the field for the last time this season.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
Cleveland Indians @ Washington Nationals
- Joe Ross has a 9.13 ERA at home this season
- Mike Clevinger has a 1.88 ERA in the second half of the season
The Indians season has ended in massively disappointing fashion but there is still a reason for Mike Clevinger to go out and give it all in this start. Clevinger is arbitration eligible next season and to some extent every performance counts. In contrast the Nationals will have all of their attention focused on the wild card game they have coming up. Do not be surprised if the likes of starter Joe Ross are asked to go deep to ensure the entire bullpen is a fresh as possible for that all-important wild card game. This game may have nothing riding on t, but any time Clevinger is on the mound it is worth tuning in.
1u – Cleveland Indians +1.5 @ +110
Atlanta Braves @ New York Mets
- Mike Soroka has a 1.35 road ERA and a 2.80 ERA in the second half
- The Braves have scored just two runs so far in this series
This is another game that will likely never be remembered in the grand scheme of the 2019 season. The Mets are playing for pride and the Braves are all about their preparation for the playoffs next week. Noah Syndergaard has struggled this season, but the Braves are unlikely to be throw their best hitters out in this one to make sure they are all as fresh as possible for the playoff push. With Mike Soroka on the mound for the Braves that could make for this to be a low-scoring affair similar to the first two games in the series.
1u – Under 8 Total Runs @ -106
Minnesota Twins @ Kansas City Royals
- Martin Perez has a 6.40 ERA in the second half of the season
- Jorge Lopez has an 8.79 home ERA and a 5.94 ERA in the second half of the season.
This might be the game to watch if you like to see runs scored. These two pitchers have really struggled in the second half of the season and with the weather in Kansas set to suit hitters it could be a wild day. Games in Kansas City with a line of 10 or above have seen the over go 15-8-1, and with the wind blowing out strongly this game has another real chance to fall in the over column.
1u – Over 11 Total Runs @ +100
