World Series: Game Five Picks
Just like that we are back at 2-2 in the World Series. We now have a three-game shootout to decide who will win it all in 2019. We also head back to the top of the rotations, with Max Scherzer and Gerrit Cole due on the mound today.
Here are Today’s MLB Picks:
Houston Astros @ Washington Nationals
1u – Washington Nationals ML @ +135
- Max Scherzer is 3-0 with a 2.16 ERA through this post season
- The Nationals have won 60% of their home games this season, but are currently 0-2 at home in this series
This series has been one to back the underdog, as the favorite has gone 1-3 so far. With Cole on the mound for the Astros they Nationals are once again underdogs and present us with value. Scherzer is every bit as good as Cole and the Nationals line up is more than capable of getting to Cole again, much like they did in Game 1 in Houston. Additionally, at some point you feel like a home team has to win a game, especially with two teams who won over 60% of their home games this season.
1u – Houston Astros Under 3.5 Runs @ +108
- Max Scherzer has allowed just three earned runs in his last three starts, and just six earned runs in 25 innings in this post season
- The Astros have scored three or less runs in seven games this post season
The amount of scoring in these games in Washington has surprised me somewhat. However, the Nationals have rolled out their worst pitcher in Anibal Sanchez, and a left-handed pitcher against a team which crushes lefties this season. Now they get to put Scherzer back on the mound after he performed well against them on the road in Game 1. This should be a tight low scoring affair, and as long as the Nationals bullpen don’t have a melt down the Astros should struggle to get above three runs in this game.
