MLB Expert Ben Rolfe picks his best bets for game six of the World Series
ANALYSIS

The Houston Astros have flipped this series and now head back to Houston leading 3-2. Can the Nationals take these two games in Houston or will Verlander and the Astros prevail.

Here are Today’s MLB Picks:

Washington Nationals @ Houston Astros

1u – Washington Nationals ML @ +160

  • Stephen Strasburg is 4-0 with a 1.93 ERA in the post season
  • Justin Verlander is 1-3 with a 4.15 ERA in the post season and four or more earned runs allowed in three of his five outings

Strasburg has been immense in these playoffs and the Nationals will hope he has one more go left in him. He has already gotten the best of Verlander once in Houston in this series and these odds are far too large for the way he has been pitching. In a similar vein Verlander has been struggling, allowing 14 earned runs in his last four outings. If it wasn’t for shutting out the Rays first time around his post season ERA would be over five right now.

1u – Over 7.5 Total Runs @ +100

  • Four of the five games in this series have seen the over hit
  • The Nationals scored 17 runs in the first two games of the series in Houston

This game should be a lot of fun. Both pitchers have great stuff, but this is playoff baseball and wild things always seem to happen. This series has demonstrated that eight runs are easy to come by, especially with the way these two bullpens have been playing. With Verlander struggling it is unlikely this game gets to the seventh innings with less than three runs scored, and at that point I like one of these teams to get to the opposing bullpen again.
