MLB Picks: Saturday Major League Baseball Parlay
3-Team Parlay - $50 Wager Wins $249.12
Atlanta Braves vs. New York Mets
(1u) Braves moneyline @ -110
- Max Fried is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA against the Mets in his career
- Steven Matz went 2-2 in five starts against the Braves in 2019
The Braves looked lost against Jacob deGrom and the Mets bullpen yesterday, and I’m banking that doesn’t happen twice in a row to one of the best lineups in baseball.
Atlanta starter Max Fried has pitched well against the Mets in his career, and while Matz’s career numbers are similarly good against the Braves, in 2019 he struggled some against Atlanta.
I expect Ronald Acuna Jr., Ozzie Albies, Freddie Freeman and the rest of the Atlanta batting order to look more like their 2019 selves on Saturday.
Detroit Tigers vs. Cincinnati Reds
(1u) Reds -1.5 @ -125
- Reds hitters are hitting .353 lifetime against Ivan Nova
- Nova is 5-7 with a 1.238 WHIP in his career against the Reds
Reds hitters have absolutely demolished Ivan Nova. In 139 official at-bats, the Reds hit .353, slugged .589 and have 20 XBH.
For the Reds, starting pitcher Luis Castillo takes the mound after a 2019 campaign that saw him rebound from a down 2018. Castillo throws heat and can keep hitters off balance with his slider and changeup.
The -220 price on the moneyline is too short for me, so I’ll take the Reds -1.5 at -125.
New York Yankees at Washington Nationals
(1u) Yankees moneyline @ -135
- Yankees hitters are hitting .293 with 4 home runs in their career against Stephen Strasburg
- James Paxton hasn’t lost a regular season decision since July 26, 2019
After Thursday’s lackluster, rain-shortened ending to the first game of this series, I expect fireworks on Saturday night.
Strasburg, for all his success in the bigs, has struggled with these Yankees hitters in his career. Giancarlo Stanton is hitting .313 in 48 ABs with 11 XBH lifetime against Strasburg.
Yankees starter James Paxton finished the 2019 regular season on a tear, and hasn’t lost since July 26, 2019. With Soto out, there aren’t a lot of hitters in the Washington lineup that can do damage, outside of Trea Turner.
I like the -135 price for a Yankees team that is considerably better than the Natonals.
