MLB Predictions: Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Picks

Not a bad way to start the 2021 MLB season, if you ask me. The Mats/Nationals game I picked was postponed, as was the Red Sox vs. Orioles, but both the under and Phillies ML hit in Philadelphia, so we’re off to a 2-0 start.
The Sox vs. O’s game was rescheduled for today and John Means and Nathan Eovaldi are still set to start, so I’m keeping my pick for that one. Here is a few more I like for Friday’s slate of games.
Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Colorado Rockies Predictions
One of the biggest upsets on Opening Day, if not the biggest upset, was the Rockies taking down the LA Dodgers. Personally, I think it’s time we stop treating Clayton Kershaw like and Ace and trotting him out there for the first game of the season. Either way, the two team are back at it again today.
The moneyline price here is terrible. I’m not going to bet the Dodgers at -250, there just isn’t real value there. So, I’m going to take a look at the run line, something I don’t do very often, because I’m confident the Dodgers will win big.
The Rockies are starting Antonio Senzatela on the mound while the Dodgers are giving us our first look at Trevor Bauer in an LA uniform.
Senzatela is fresh off the best season of his career last year, but I’m not putting much stock into a 60-game season. What I am going to put stock into is Senzatela’s struggles against the Dodger sin his young career. He’s 3-3 with a 5.74 ERA and 1.606 WHIP. In 42.1 innings pitched against the Dodgers he’s given up 52 hits and 30 runs.
Trevor Bauer is going to be amped up for his first Dodgers start and the best leinup in baseball is going to feast on Senzatela and the Rockies.

Los Angeles Angels vs. Chicago White Sox Predictions
Betting against this White Sox team is not a money making strategy in 2021. They boast one of the best young lineups in baseball, featuring the 2020 AL MVP in Jose Abreu. But, I am comfortable betting against Dallas Keuchel here.
Keuchel is coming off some of the best baseball in his life last season, with the exception of his Cy young year, but this Angels lineup, specifically Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon, have had a lot of success against him.
In 46 career ABs, Trout is hitting .326 with 7 walks and a .415 OBP against Keuchel. As for Rendon, he’s got a career .333 average against the White Sox starter.
I like this lineup to give Keuchel issues and I also like Angel’s starter Andrew Heaney to rebound from a poor short season in 2020.
The Pick: Angels ML @ -112
Boston Red Sox vs. Baltimore Orioles Predictions
Let’s get this out of the way early. Both these teams absolutely stink. They’ll spend the majority of the year as bottom dwellers and struggle to get much of anything going. But, the Red Sox have infinitely more talent throughout their lineup and should be able to chase Baltimore starter John Means on Opening Day.
In 34.1 innings against the Red Sox in his career, Means has given up 17 runs, good for a 4.46 ERA. Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers and J.D. Martinez give the Red Sox a nice punch at the top of their lineup. Bogaerts has mashed Means throughout his career. He’s 6-14 with two homers and 5 RBIs against the Baltimore starter. Martinez has had similar success against him with three home runs and six RBIs in 14 at-bats.
I don’t love Nathan Eovaldi as the Red Sox starter, their rotation may be the worst in the entire league 1-through-5, but I think the Red Sox have enough pop in their lineup to get the win against the O’s on Friday.
