Field Of Dreams Game: Yankees vs. White Sox Prediction

The 2021 Field of Dreams Game is sure to be a spectacle come Thursday night in Iowa. For those that don’t know, in a rare good PR move by Major League Baseball, the Yankees and White Sox are set to play a game at The Field of Dreams on Thursday.

Yes, the MLB recreated the field from the famous Field of Dreams moves, corn field and all, and is having the Yankees and White Sox face off in Dyersville, Iowa.

Do we know if the game will be any good? No, of course not, but Field of Dreams is one of the greatest sports movies of all time. The MLB seems to be living by a familiar mantra “If you build it, they will come.”

Here are my Yeankees vs. White Sox predictions for the 2021 Field of Dreams Game.

Field of Dreams Game Prediction: Yankees vs. White Sox

Outside of how cool it will be to watch Major League Baseball players actually play on a corn field in Iowa, it helps the watchability of the event that the game features two of the hottest teams in baseball right now.

The Yankees, after a slow start that had fans groaning and calling for front office changes, have won seven of their last ten and are two games out of a Wild Card spot thanks to the recent free fall the Boston Red Sox are experiencing. It’s a close race, with Toronto breathing down their back just a half game back, but the Yankees are very much alive.

I covered this yesterday, but the Chicago White Sox are my pick to win the World Series right now. For a time, we though they’d be without Eloy Jimenez and Luis Robert for the entire season. Now they’re both back and swinging hot bats. Meanwhile, the White Sox have one of the three best starting rotations in baseball.

What makes the Field of Dream Game even better is that we’re going to get to see one of the best pitchers in baseball, Lance Lynn, take the mound for the White Sox, and I believe he will ultimately give them the advantage needed to win.

In his last seven starts, dating back to June 26, Lance Lynn has allowed more than one run just one time. At age 34 years old, Lance Lynn is better than ever and a contender for this year’s AL Cy Young award.

As for the Yankees, they’re trotting out Andrew Heaney, who I don’t have much trust in. Heaney will strike guys out and limit walks, but he hasn’t had the stuff to pound the strike zone like he does and while it often leads to strikeouts, it also often leads to him getting hit around.

This White Sox lineup, which features big bats like Jose Abreu, Luis Robert, Jimenez, Tim Anderson   and Yoan Moncada is going to eat Heaney alive at the Field of Dreams Game and I can’t wait to watch a few balls fly into the corn field.

I have a few picks, including some prop plays, that I’m going to be taking tonight.

How to Watch the Field of Dream Game

First pitch for the 2021 Field of Dreams Game, featuring the Yankees and White Sox, is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET. The game will air on FOX and Kevin Costner is expected to attend.

Field of Dream Game - Field Dimensions

Logistically, the teams weren't able to play on the actual original Field of Dreams. But, they are playing in an 8,000 seat field built a quarter mile from the original stadium that is built to replicate it.

The Field of Dreams they're playing on is 335 feet to both left and right, 380 feet in the alleys and 400 feet to dead center. Oh, and surrounded by 159 acres of corn.
