Los Angeles Angels vs Baltimore Orioles Prediction
The Angels scored 14 runs on 19 hits last night against the Orioles, to hand Baltimore their 19th loss of the season.
20 losses just looks better on paper.
The Angels will send out Shohei Ohtani to the mound with a 8-1 record and a 2.79 ERA. Everything looks good there.
On the other hand, the Orioles are going with a bullpen game tonight. Yikes.
The Orioles have the worst bullpen in the major leagues and those guys have propelled them to 19 straight losses.
I don’t care who is on the mound for the Orioles. The Orioles have a 5.86 ERA as a pitching staff, which is last in the league by a mile. The Diamondbacks have a 5.21 ERA while the Twins and Pirates have an ERA of 5.00 each.
They’ve got a WHIP of 1.51 as a team and have given up 190 home runs on the season, which is also tied for the major league lead with the Twins.
The Angels are nearing .500 while the Orioles are stuck at 38 wins on the season. They’re going to reach 100 losses before they’re able to celebrate 50 wins.
I can’t speculate on who is going to start for the Orioles. But this is just a complete fade of whoever this Baltimore team sends out. It’s basically a clear tank job. The starting pitching has looked awful all season and they continue to bring up underdeveloped arms that have no business being in the big leagues.
I’m not saying the Angels offense has been incredible. They’ve had their holes in the lineup and have plenty of inconsistent bats. They’ve had to provide offense without Mike Trout and Anthony Rendon in the lineup. But at least Jared Walsh is back and they’ve had Ohtani who could potentially knock 50 home runs this season.
So when you’re giving me a team total of 5.5 for nine innings at even money against the Orioles bullpen, I’ll take it.
I’ve faded the Orioles plenty during their big losing streak. It’s been fun but it’s really not great for the game. Still, it’s great for the bank roll. If you faded the Orioles starting with their first loss of the 19-game losing streak through yesterday’s loss, and reinvested your winnings each game, you’d be up over $200,000.
Let’s have some fun and root for the Angels to clobber the Orioles in route to their 20th straight loss of the season. This Orioles team has a chance to make history, and not in a good way.
