Chicago White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals Prediction
How about this reemergence from Lopez?
Considered a fringe rotation member for a while now after posting a 5.52 ERA across the last two years, the former highly-touted Nationals prospect has turned things completely around, carrying a shiny 1.54 ERA into tonight’s fifth start.
Of course, Lopez has also made 10 relief appearances, and overall, he’s been really solid, as evident in the nifty 37-7 K/BB ratio he’s registered in 35 innings of work.
This is the Lopez I always envisioned when I was tailing him often in under bets as recent as three seasons ago. He especially looks to be in top form at the moment after hurling a combined six perfect innings with seven strikeouts his last two outings, albeit out of the bullpen.
We have another much-improved pitcher going as well for the Royals with Lynch getting the nod this evening. Simply put, he’s been a revelation since a concerning first stint in the Majors earlier this season.
Though the White Sox knocked Lynch around in his second career start, that was before Lynch figured things out. Since being promoted and reinserted onto the pitching staff after the All-Star break, the rookie southpaw has been excellent, holding the opponent to three runs or fewer in all seven of his assignments.
One of those saw Lynch throw five sharp innings of one-run ball opposite Chicago and log a career-best seven punch-outs.
Lopez is in a groove. So, too, is Lynch. Giving them a total as high as 9 can lead to a low score with enough room to spare.
