Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers Prediction
As predicted, the White Sox finally broke out last night against the Texas Rangers. Every solid offense that slumps should just face the Rangers. It’s one of the best cures around.
Spencer Howard will take the hill for the Rangers with a 7.38 ERA and an 0-4 record. In his last outing, he lasted 1.1 innings against the Astros, allowing six hits and six runs. He needed 51 pitches and only got four outs with just two strikeouts and one walk.
In September, he’s got two starts and has thrown just 3.1 innings of work. He’s not going to pitch the full five innings. It’ll be due to Texas saving his arm or allowing too many runs.
If he allows too many runs, that would be great. If he exits, that means we’re getting the Texas bullpen, which isn’t so bad either. Did you watch it last night?
Howard has a 5.04 xFIP in the last 30 days along with just 28.6 percent ground balls and 33.3 percent line drives. The hard contact is creeping up and he’s been absolutely terrible against his last 14 righties with a wOBA of .634 and ISO of .462.
The White Sox will have plenty of righties in the lineup to face the righty in Howard. The team figures too have at least four righties and depending on how the White Sox put their lineup together, we could see more.
The big powerful righties are Luis Robert, Jose Abreu, Eloy Jimenez and really any of those three can hit for power against Howard and righties.
As a group, the White Sox are hitting an ISO of .182 with a wOBA of .340. The top of the line is hitting a ton of line drives so the expectation is that the White Sox offense explodes early in this game.
Lefties Yasmani Grandal and Gavin Sheets have also showed a lot of power against righties in the past and both have extremely elevated ISO numbers against righties in the last 30 days.
Between those two lefties and the three righties mentioned above, there’s so much potential for this lineup to go off against Howard and the Rangers bullpen (when the time comes).
With that, I like the White Sox to score at least three runs in the first five innings. Right now the line is set to Over 2.5 in the first five innings at -110 for the White Sox and their team total. That should ultimately hit and it should hit early in this game. Howard has an ERA of 7.36 and it continues to get worse, not better.
You can bet the White Sox now. They’re back on track offensively. It just takes the Texas Rangers pitching to get back on track.
Chicago White Sox vs. Texas Rangers Prediction: White Sox F5 TT Over 2.5 @ -110
