Colorado Rockies vs. San Francisco Giants Prediction
The Giants are looking for win number 100 at Coors Field tonight. The lineup should be stacked, and the offense should produce, especially in Coors.
The Rockies will pitch Peter Lambert, a right-handed pitcher that is coming off the 60-Day Injured List starting today. Lambert hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2019.
In 2019, Lambert went 3-7 with a 7.25 ERA. In September of 2019, he allowed 24 hits in 14.2 innings with an ERA of 10.43.
He seems like the perfect pitcher to pounce on for win number 100.
In 2019, Lambert had a 5.66 xFIP while striking out 13.5 percent of batters and walking 8.6 percent. His BABIP was .340, and he allowed 24.5 percent line drives while giving up 39.1 percent hard contact.
He faced 191 lefties and allowed a wOBA of .430 with an ISO of .272. He also faced 230 righties and allowed a .380 wOBA and ISO of .232.
The verdict here is that he’s very hittable and isn’t able to fool anyone. Coming off Tommy John surgery, I wouldn’t expect Lambert to go more than three innings, but that will be enough time for the Giants to slug him off the field.
In the last 30 days, the Giants have a .263 ISO and wOBA of .387 against righties. They’re hitting grounders just 37.5 percent of the time and smacking 22.1 percent of line drives while also limiting strikeouts and walking 10.2 percent of the time.
Everyone in the Giants lineup is hitting for power against righties but Buster Posey, but he’s a guy that can break out any second.
Even if the Giants have to face the Rockies bullpen early, I’d still be pretty comfortable with grabbing the Giants on the team total in this spot. The offense is red-hot and has smacked any right-hander that has been put in their way.
I’ve never really bet on team total overs at 3.5, but this is the spot I’m willing to do it. The Giants will face a guy with a career 7.25 ERA, coming off Tommy John surgery in Coors Field with a lineup that has been absolutely torching baseballs in the last month or so.
Let’s take the Giants Over 3.5 in the first five innings on the team at a reasonable price of -115.
The last time Lambert faced the Giants in 2019, he allowed four runs on six hits and pitched an average ball game. Don’t expect an average game from a guy coming off Tommy John surgery who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2019.
Lambert has a 1.74 career WHIP in the MLB. Multiple runners will get on, and one or two long balls will do the trick.
