Twins vs. Tigers Odds

With only five days left in the regular season now, the first wave of guys making their final start of the year will commence.

More often than not, this helps to ensure the best type of effort from a prideful starting pitcher, knowing that this is it until after the winter. And in this particular matchup, we’ll have two talented arms ready to unload all of what they have left.

The involvement of Mize leads me to pursue the first-five portion of the total at an even 5, rather than the full game, being that manager A.J. Hinch decreed that he’d only be going just a few innings for each of his last handful of outings. Yet, even under these limits, Mize has continued to thrive.

He’s really been very good all season, especially considering how rocky his first taste of the bigs turned out in the shortened 60-game season. Two of his turns came against these Twins, whom he held to four runs collectively in 10 innings.

Mize was real sharp in his last two starts, and I’d expect him to throw out everything he has left to end it with a similar showing.

Then we have Pineda, the generally steady veteran no matter what time of year it is. So given that intel, we should be able to trust him opposite a division foe that he’s had true suggest against, right?

Since signing with Minnesota before the 2018 season (although he would miss all of that year), Pineda’s faced the Tigers six times and notched a quality start in all but one of them. Altogether, he compiled a 3.75 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and a sparkling 36-3 K/BB ratio in those outings, spanning 36 frames. However, more work close to that is desired.

It’s also worth noting that after missing about a month of action due to injury, Pineda hasn’t been fazed at all upon his return. In his four September starts following that stint on the injured list, the burly righty is 4-0 with a pretty 1.93 ERA.

Remember, in a F5 bet; we’re hinging on the starters a lot more than usual. For their respective last turns of the year, look for both to put a bow on quality seasons.
