World Series Game 1 Prop Picks: Houston Astros vs. Atlanta Braves

Just because it’s the World Series doesn’t mean you have to bet the mortgage on the game. Personally, I’m going to enjoy betting these games with little money at stake for many different wagers. I’m going to enjoy it. I’m not looking to profit like we did throughout the season.

Keep that in mind when you’re looking to bet these games. The best way to stay profitable is to not play hundreds of games, especially primetime games where the lines are as sharp as a blade.

I’ve put together my three favorite prop bets for Game 1 of the World Series. Be aware that managers will over manage at times and sometimes ideas that look good on paper in the regular season just don’t work out in the postseason because everything changes in postseason play with game management.

Braves vs Astros World Series Game 1 Prop Bets

Eddie Rosario Home Run (+600)

Eddie Rosario hit three home runs in six games against the Dodgers in the NLCS. He’s on absolute fire and hit the biggest home run of his career, which in turn, sent the Braves to the World Series in Game 6 of that NLCS.

He’ll take on a left-handed pitcher in Framber Valdez, who has a .402 wOBA and ISO of .316 against his last 20 left-handed batters.

Meanwhile, Rosario has a .333 ISO and wOBA of .531 in his last 16 plate appearances against lefties. In those 16 plate appearances, Rosario hasn’t hit a single ground ball with 50 percent of balls in play being line drives. If anyone can take Valdez deep, it’s Rosario.

Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130)

Again, we’re going to pick on Valdez with left-handed bats in the Braves lineup. Valdez, as stated above, has been struggling against lefties in the last 30 days. Meanwhile, Freeman, despite being a much better hitter against righties, has a .389 ISO with a wOBA of .437 in the last 30 days against lefties.

That’s 22 plate appearances against lefties where Freeman has a BABIP of .375. Rosario and Freeman are the two left-handed bats that can do serious damage against Valdez if they get the right pitch. For Freeman, we’ll look for two base hits or one extra base hit.

Don’t forget, Freeman won the MVP last year and has been extremely clutch this year. Once Valdez exits, he’ll also potentially have a chance against some right-handed relievers.

Jose Altuve Over 1.5 Total Bases (+120)

Altuve is 2-for-10 against right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton with one home run for his career. Altuve has just one walk and just one strikeout of those 11 plate appearances.

I like seeing this because with total bases, you need hits. You don’t want walks or strikeouts. Altuve, against Morton, will at least put the ball in play. Therefore, good things can happen with two base hits or an extra base hit.

Altuve is just on another level in postseason play and has a .298 ISO in the last 64 plate appearances against righties. He’s also hitting 21.7 percent line drives in that same time span against right-handed pitching. Why not give the Astros lead-off man a shot here?

  • Eddie Rosario Home Run (+600)

  • Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (+130)

  • Jose Altuve Over 1.5 Total Bases (+120)
