Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs Pick: It's Corbin Burnes Day
This is our first bet this season for MLB and first ever MLB pick in an article format. Let's hope for some beginner's luck here on one of my favorite players in the league.
1u - Corbin Burnes o6.5 K’s (-150 @ Caesars) (Bet $150 to win $100)
This is our first bet this season for MLB and first ever MLB pick in an article format. Let's hope for some beginner's luck here on one of my favorite players in the league. Corbin Burnes is nothing short of spectacular, last season he sported a 2.43 ERA and averaged a nasty 8.35 strikeouts per game. Only needing 7 against the Cubs seems like a steal for what we know he’s capable of. Many times with pitchers we see there pitch count increase as the season progresses but with Burnes I expect him to get his heavy workload from the jump. Last season, he opened the year throwing 87 pitches and getting 11 strikeouts. I could see something similar transpire again this year.
Let's talk about his opponent. The Cubs aren’t much of a threat in my eyes. They do have pieces on their offense who are certainly capable of being in outstanding pros, but the collection of all of them doesn’t scare me into believing Burnes has any real chance of getting pulled early. I think Seiya Suzuki will be incredibly MLB-ready and could really open some eyes this year but this Cubs lineup as a whole feels like a good one to attack. Corbin played against Chicago three times last season and never had less than 10 K’s. Games of 10, 15 and 11 strikeouts last year make me feel very confident that he should be able to get us a light 7.

Last year, Corbin Burnes started the season getting 7 or more strikeouts in his first 11 games. This just feels like a number we may only see once all year and the only reason I’m not playing for more than one unit is the massive juice. I personally think if this number moves to 7.5 and you can get it for +110 or better it’s also worth a lay. Corbin Burnes is undeniably a top-five pitcher in the league and is an absolute ace for the Brewers.
I feel safe having my money on him.
