An old friend returns to Kaufmann Stadium, I expect him to be as cool as cucumber though. Here's why I'm all over this Zack Greinke prop for Kansas City Royals vs Cleveland Guardians.

I will admit that I have never once bet on a walks prop. With that being said, it appears to be a market that I could definitely see the books consistently mispricing like this one here. I understand that there could be jitters by many pitchers on opening day and especially when returning to a former team of yours. Even with that though I don’t think Greinke falls under that group though. We have seen Greinke come across as pretty robotic both on the mound and in the locker room, the guy is just even-keeled at all times.
Greinke had one or fewer walks in 20 of 30 games. We’re practically getting a 66.7% hit rate bet with no juice, it makes sense. Cleveland also ranked bottom five last year in terms of taking walks. Greinke played Cleveland in Spring Training as well and only walked one batter when pitching 3.2 innings. Many of those at bats were one pitch at bats where he was purposely pitching contact. Whether he gets rocked or has a great game pitching to contact we should be good either way.
Walk props are admittedly weird but it’s a market I’ve yet to see other people exploit and I always feel comfortable betting on things that not many people are on. This year you guys could expect to see first five innings, strikeout props, pitching outs props, earned run props among many others. With MLB there is so much to like and it’s personally one of my favorite sports to bet thus far. Hope y’all read this and are down to get weird for this Greinke one, I see value.
