1u - Cardinals -0.5 F5 innings (-120) (Bet $120 to win $100)

For those who are new to MLB betting essentially we need at least a one run lead after the first five innings, a tie would not suffice. St Louis is just such a superior team. Pittsburgh has some young talent on the way but are still a team I want to pick on until they mature as a team. The Cardinals on the other hand are a legitimate team who finished with an impressive 9-5 record this spring. The Cardinals stayed relatively quiet this offseason but brought back the majority of the their roster who won them an incredible 90 wins last year.

The number oe reason I absolutely love this bet is Adam Wainwright. I am trusting a 40 year old man to pitch like an ace I know but he hasn’t given us any reason to think he’d fall off of the cliff. Wainwright faced Pittsburgh four times last year and looked absolutely explosive out there. In just four games he pitched 30 innings for a 4-0 record while only allowing one total run. The man absolutely owned Pittsburgh and the Pirates have a similar looking lineup to start off the year. The last time that Adam Wainwright pitched in Pittsburgh he threw a complete game 2 hitter, tonights game will also be taking place in Pennsylvania.

First 5 innings bets to me have always felt like a safer alternative to a complete game spread. There are way less variables just focusing on starter vs starter as opposed to having to take into account bullpens and the batters history vs the bullpen arms. This bet really stood out to me and I feel like it should have more juice than it does. JT Brubaker is a fine pitcher but has given up 3+ ER in all four of his starts vs St Louis last year and in two games he allowed 5, this game just screams that St Louis leads 3-1 after five innings. Let's cash our first F5 bet of the year and start these off hot.
