Friday’s MLB Home Run Best Bets: Trust Matt Olson To Go Yard
The swap of Matt Olson for Freddie Freeman was one of the biggest storylines in the offseason. Freddie Freeman was the heart and soul of the Braves for years but a mix-up with his agent and the front offic ultimately led to the braves trading for hometown hero Matt Olson to replace Freeman.
Matt Olson +375 (Bet $100 to win $375)
Matt Olson is no slouch as he is one of the best power hitters in the game and an all-star in his own right. Olson was also one of the best power hitters in the league agaisnt left-handed pitchers last season despite being at a disadvantage as a left-handed hitter. Olson belted 22 homers vs left-handed pitching last season and had a slugging percentage over 600 agaisnt them as well. The Braves lineup will be going up against young lefty Reiver Sanmartin for the Reds and I think this is an excellent spot for Olson to hit his first home run of the year. I like the value at +375 for Olson so he will be the first home run prop I will be rolling with today.
Marcus Semien +370 (Bet $100 to win $370)
I love a good storyline and the Blue Jays vs Rangers have a good one tonight as Marcus Semien gets to face off against his former team on opening day. Semien has always been a solid player and really had a career year last season. He bet on himself with a 1 year deal from the Blue Jays and had one of the best offensive seasons as a middle infielder in MLB history. Semien belted 45 homeruns with a career high in slugging percentage and think he will have a solid game tonight as well. Semien will have some familiarity playing in the Rogers Centre as the Jays played the second half of last season in their true home park and Berrios has had some issues with keeping the ball in the ballpark in his career. I like the value on Marcus Semien to hit a home run today at +370 against his former team.
