Detroit Tigers vs. Chicago White Sox Prediction: Follow Last Year's Trend of the White Sox Smashing
I am an avid Detroit Tigers fan and I truly do believe the team will be significantly improved this season. With that being said, it will take some time for the young guys to be consistent producers and I expect a slow start to the season. Chicago has the best team in the AL Central and I don’t expect them to lose the opening series of the year. White Sox won pretty convincingly yesterday and that was against Casey Mize is supposed to be much improved this season. The same could be said about Skubal but there’s one thing about Skubal that will have Chicago salivating. He is left-handed.

Chicago absolutely mashes left-handed pitching. In the 2021 season, we saw them hit .275 against LHP as a team and they were even better in 2020. On Opening day against ERod they looked great making him allow 3 ER in 4 innings. Chicago went on to lose that game but I don’t expect a player of Hendricks caliber to start the opening series with multiple meltdowns. As much as it pains me to say, the White Sox are just a better team as of right now. Skubal has a 6.50 ERA vs Chicago since being a pro and I expect the struggles to continue.
There are so many bets I love for this game but this one will be available to everyone so I made it my main bet on the card. Although it’s juicy I think Skubal over 1.5 earned runs should be free money at -160. Detroit will have a winner sooner rather than later but as a diehard fan of the team, I think it will take more growing pains to get to where we will eventually get. Chicago not only is the best team in the division but arguably in the AL, this is their series to lose and -140 isn’t too bad of juice. Kopech isn’t my favorite starter but he has been efficient in his short outings and should keep the Tigers bats at bay.
