I’ll be honest, more times than not I don’t find value in these props. Buxton is just a freak though. The 28-year-old center fielder has had issues remaining healthy but when he plays undeniably one of the best talents this league has to offer. Buxton has started off the year phenomenally and has 16 total bases in his last three games. Buxton has a multi-home run game, a single HR game, and a multiple double game in his last three, the guy is simply pimping baseballs. Although batting comes on a day-to-day basis I’d like to think he’s seeing the ball very well and looks as healthy as ever.
I love this bet because of the matchup. Buxton and Heaney have only faced off once before and Heaney got the better of him but that’s too small of a sample size to get discouraged. Buxton loves facing lefties. He already has 2 home runs in six at-bats vs lefties and last year batted an insane .325 against them. Heaney is far from a great pitcher which could lead to Buxton definitely seeing 4 at-bats and possibly 5 with him being the leadoff man. Opportunity is the name of the game with offensive MLB props and Buxton should have plenty of it.
Inning props, pitching, and first 5’s will forever be my top three first choices for betting MLB but seeing this at plus odds had me salivating. Buxton is such a special player and Heaney had nearly a 6 ERA last year and a 7.32 in his stint in New York. The guy simply doesn’t have it anymore, I think this game has the makings of a high-scoring game and if that’s the case I think Buxton will play his part and hit this prop for us. Two singles will do but I would love a double, triple, or home run to cash us in one play, it’s more fun like that.
